I was very excited to meet up with an old neighbourhood friend to meet his family in Auckland. After exploring the very hilly city centre and beautiful Eden Gardens, we all met up for a lovely dinner and some awesome night views of the city lights. The next day I hopped on a ferry from the Princes Wharf, to the very quaint town of Davenport, where I had the most scrumptious lunch and sticky toffee pudding. Later that evening, I visited the Sky tower and captured an amazing sunset from the 71st floor. The tourist bus takes you to many convenient locations, so I also enjoyed visiting the national museum and absorbed a little of the Ancient Māori culture. The next day I was off on a very “unexpected” adventure..a day trip to visit the Waitomo glow worm caves and “The Lord of the Rings” Hobbiton Movie set. What an experience! We had a fantastic lunch with real Hobbit Tavern ale and a feast fit for a king! “Gandalf: I’m looking for someone to share in an adventure. Bilbo Baggins: An adventure? No, I don’t imagine anyone west of Bree would have much interest in adventures. Nasty, disturbing, uncomfortable things.” -JRR Tolkien
