Australia
A lot of my friends and family have emigrated to Australia, so I really wanted to see what the fuss was all about 🙂 I must admit, even staying in a busy student hostel in Sydney, did not take away any of the luster of this beautiful city! First on my list was taking a leisurely stroll from Surry Hills, where I was staying, through Hyde Park and then The Royal Botanical Gardens, finishing at the World renowned Opera Building. It took around an hour on foot, stopping along the way to admire the breath-taking scenery. By the time I reached the Circular Quay, it was bustling and vibrant with colour and the atmosphere was electric. The locals are friendly and inviting and I made quite a few new friends and met very interesting travellers. The city feels safe and welcoming, even late at night. The next day I visited the Koala Park Sanctuary. So many magnificent indigenous species to learn about and I loved being able to interact with a Koala.
The next day I spent most of the day exploring Darling Harbour. With an awesome aquarium and many interesting shops to visit, one day probably wasn’t enough. I also took a bus to the world famous Bondi Beach, where I enjoyed a really delicious frozen yogurt.
A trip to the other side of the planet, would not be complete without a visit to my cousins now living in Brisbane. I immediately felt right at home, after enjoying a scrummy home cooked dinner. The next day, I was driven to Redcliffe Beach for a relaxing walk at Redcliffe parade to see the tribute to the Gibb brothers at Bee Gees way. I loved Australia’s safe and wholesome environment, and can certainly understand why so many young families would prefer to live here.
