Canada

So my adventure began in Canada, in the middle of winter. I was fortunate enough to  meet up with my cousin in Calgary, who treated me to the most delicious steak dinner and after a lovely catch up, I was on a bus heading off to Banff. I stayed for 3 nights in a lovely B&B that served freshly baked waffles and delectable blueberry muffins every morning! The town is quaint with lovely little craft shops dotted along the high street and the most spectacular views of the mountain from any side of town. (If you like popcorn, try the cheesy ones, delicious!) The historic Banff Springs hotel sits on a hill on the far side of town and is described as one of the most haunted places in Canada, so if you like ghost stories, you might want to read more about this place! I also enjoyed a hot spring bath every night at the Upper hot springs, where I met many skiers returning from the many ski resorts situated around Banff. I, myself not a ski fanatic, set out via a return bus tour each morning, to visit the world famous Lake Louise and the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel, located in Alberta’s Banff National Park. In this winter wonderland, I was able to walk across the frozen lake, take a horse slay ride to a frozen waterfall and join in a snow-shoe hiking trail. The best part about having lunch in this hotel is the amazing panoramic views of the mountain! Three days didn’t feel quite long enough to experience all on offer, but I was excited to fly on to Vancouver, to see my dearest uni friend, living in the beautiful Port Moody, a city in British Columbia. She took me to the most scenic parks on the Buntzen lake trail, and we drove around lovely neighbourhoods where we saw Bambi grazing in someone’s front garden. I also took the seabus (ferry)  from Vancouver to the Quay to appreciate the Vancouver skyline, and visited the historic steam clock in Gastown.
